Nobody’s a perfect parent right off the bat. It’s hard enough to take care of yourself some days, let alone another human being! Plus, every child is unique. Raising your first might look totally different to your third— trust me, I’ve been there. Whether you want some handy tips and tricks or are looking for broader community support, here are my recommended parenting classes in New York.

The New York Foundling
Multiple locations throughout New York
The New York Foundling first began way back in 1869 when three Sisters of Charity began working to save babies abandoned on the streets. From there, The New York Foundling has evolved into the pillar of community support and resources that it is today. Their Circle of Security parenting classes aim to teach New York parents how to build healthy, nurturing relationships with their children. Goals for the group-based program include learning how to help your child manage their emotions, develop their self-esteem, and create secure attachments. Meetings are held weekly over Microsoft Teams. The Circle of Security classes are free.

In addition to their comprehensive medical services, NYU Langone’s Center for Perinatal Education and Lactation provides a true treasure trove of classes to help you before, during, and after pregnancy.
